Dr. Garlapati from North Little Rock, Arkansas arrested on sexual assault charges

“NORTH LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - A North Little Rock doctor was arrested after his patient accused him of sexual assault.

Police say a Lonoke County woman came forward back in February accusing a pain management doctor of touching her inappropriately while on a doctor’s visit.

According to police, the assault happened earlier that month at the Arkansas Pain Center in North Little Rock. Investigators went on to obtain medical records and spoke to employees at the practice, which is standard procedure. After several prosecutors looked over the evidence, police picked up Dr. Butchaiah Garlapati on a warrant Wednesday at his job with no incident. It took nearly nine months to gather enough evidence to arrest Dr. Garlapati. But Sgt. Brian Dedrick with North Little Rock police says there’s still a lot more work to do to build a case against him.

“This doesn’t stop we still have an investigation that continues on because if we develop any new information then, of course, that will all be looked at,” said Dedrick.

Dr. Garlapati was charged with Second Degree Sexual Assault he was taken to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and is out on $5,000 bond.”
